An Ají Habanero seedling — species Capsicum baccatum, 5,000 to 10,000 Scoville units, 1 out of 5 on the heat scale.
A variety whose flower smells of lemon, and whose fruit has a character described as “floating” — a sense that the heat is not there immediately but settles. That is also why it is grown for the flower.
How to grow it
Sow in spring, give the seedling light, fruit in late summer. Capsicum baccatum stands apart in that flowers and fruit come from the same plant at different times of year.
