Full description
An Ancho Grande (Poblano) seedling — species Capsicum annuum, 1,000 to 2,500 Scoville units, 1 out of 5 on the heat scale.
Poblano is the fresh ripe pepper, and ancho is the same pepper dried: a dark red skin, an aroma that recalls dried plum, and a flavour with no heat. That is why it is dried for ajvar and for grinding into spice blends.
How to grow it
Sow in spring, give the seedling light. The fruit ripens later than most peppers and must be fully red before drying, or it loses its colour.
When it arrives
Seedlings are delivered in spring (the site states late April), Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
