Jalapeño is the most widely grown and most popular chilli in the world, and that is no surprise: it is moderately hot and has an addictive flavour. There are a thousand ways to prepare it and it is hard to get wrong, yet the brand settled on one: grilling it with garlic, to bring out a smoky note too.
Cold-pressed apple juice binds the ingredients and gives the sauce a consistency that stays on the spoon. In Spanish, “asado” as an adjective means roasted — the name literally describes how the chilli is prepared.
On the heat
1 out of 5, the lowest in the range. Not because it is tasteless, only because the chilli is not hot while apple and garlic carry the flavour.
Where it goes
It is good added to food that is already cooked, and equally good used during cooking. Either way, the meal improves.
