A Cayenne seedling — species Capsicum annuum, 30,000 to 50,000 Scoville units, 2 out of 5 on the heat scale.
Powdered cayenne is the most common form of red pepper in the world, and it is an ingredient in the Zapotec blend and the Habanero sauce. It is grown for the fruit, which is dried whole.
How to grow it
Sow in spring, give the seedling light, fruit in late summer. The plant is of medium height and holds the fruit well, so picking is simple once they ripen.
When it arrives
Seedlings are delivered in spring (the site states late April), Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
