A Red Savina seedling — species Capsicum chinense, 350,000 to 577,000 Scoville units, 3 out of 5 on the heat scale.
The variety an entire product line rests on: Red Savina is the base of the Savina dunja sauce, made from fermented fruit and dried powder, and part of the fruit goes into the spice blends.
How to grow it
Sow in spring, give the seedling light, fruit in late summer. Red Savina is slightly more sensitive to temperature than is usual for chinense, so young plants should not be exposed to cold.
When it arrives
Seedlings are delivered in spring (the site states late April), Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
